Dorcas was founded in 1968 by Margaret Keller known then as “Christian Community in Action.” The mission of Dorcas Ministries, based in Cary, North Carolina, is to “help our neighbors thrive by providing financial and food assistance, training and coaching, client advocacy, a platform for people to make a difference, and a best-in-class thrift shop for our community.”
As of 2024, more than 600 volunteers work in several areas of Dorcas Ministries including the Thrift Shop, Food Pantry, Crisis Center, and Career Coaching.
